Redbone coonhounds are medium to large size. Males are generally 22-27" and females are 21-26". They are equal in height from the highest point of their shoulder blade to the ground, and as long as measured from sternum to buttocks. They have a 'houndy' head, blocky with ears long enough to reach the tip of their nose or beyond. They have a pleading expression, their eye colour can be dark brown to hazel but dark brown is preferred. Their coat colour is red although a small amount of white is permissible on their feet or chest. Redbones have a very proud and sure footed gait.
